King's Artificial Intelligence and Philosophy Society

Thinking about
the machines
we'll live with.

A student-led forum for AI and philosophy.

Artificial intelligence may be the most powerful tool ever made, and the full extent of its benefits and risks is yet to be discovered. We believe it is just as important to question how we should think about this technology, what it means for our values, and how we ought to use it. Since our founding, we have built a community of over 580 members, hosted events with more than 100 attendees on average, and brought speakers including David Leslie, Jack Stilgoe and Philip Treleaven to King's.

Where we see AI

  • LawMoral questions raised by AI systems capable of independent decision-making.
  • PoliticsWhether regulation can keep pace with a technology that develops faster than legislation.
  • EconomicsEffects on labour markets and inequality as intelligence becomes an automatable resource.
  • Art & CultureWhether AI output can be creative, and implications for authorship.
  • HistoryHow this period compares to previous technological transformations.
